You came to us broken, many years ago.....

Skinny and starved.
You were frightened, fearfull and scared.
Then you began to shine...some would even say you thrived.
But your scares ran deep...so deep I could not reach them.
I new you were hurt...

Why did you have to bite her?
I new your fate straight away.
I new you hadn't been yourself for quite some time.
I new that I could not fix you.
I new you had to go...

Rest in peace our beautiful broken Ella....xx

Asha is fine, She got out of the car as usual and went to say hello. Grabbed Ellas collar and began to head off for a play. For some reason Ella snapped and bit her face. No skin was broken and she is fine. BUT...We need to protect our kids.

Under the advisement of the RSPCA, our Vet and following our own instincts Ella has been put down. We are sad today...just so sad.

That is so, so sad. Isn't it funny how the right decision can be one of the hardest choices.

As a parent I would do the same thing and as a dog owner who rescued her pet, I can only imagine how difficult this is, but I know you made the right decision. Thinking of you and your family. So sorry this happened.

Oh that's sad - so sorry to hear this Leonie. My poor parents had to make the same choice for the very same reason about our beloved Sam when I was young. Hugs to you.

I'm so sorry that you had to make that choice. I'm glad your little one is ok.

Just like the rest of the comments...I'm SO glad Asha is fine. It's hard to be the responsible adult and know you're doing the right thing...but still feel crummy doing so. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Such a hard decision to have to make - especially when you know its the right one but it feels so wrong. Thoughts are with you all.

In our family all our dogs were the stragglers, the ones without homes, disowned by people (can you even call them "people"?!) who didn't want them anymore. I am sure your pooch spent the happiest part of her life with you guys. Sorry for your sadness. She is now smiling down from The Happy Hunting Ground, as my Nan would say.

How sad, Leonie. I'm glad Asha is OK and I'm sure that Ella is OK too now. She has found peace at last hopefully. *hugs*

That is sad but I'm with you - you have to protect the kids. My little one used to throw herself at every dog she saw but one day she was bitten in the face when she was 5 years old... she's 10 now but still won't go near a dog now. I hope it's not the same for Asha. Kx

I'm really sorry to hear that, Leonie. It must have been such a sad decision, but it sounds like it was the right one. Hugs xx

Oh Leonie, that's heart-breaking news. I'm really glad Asha was unhurt but so sad that an animal which has been mistreated early on will remain unpredictable, no matter how well-loved. She obviously had a good life with your family. xx

As a dog-lover, I'm very sorry to read this but as a parent, I know that we have to make decisions that aren't easy. I hope your daughter is okay.

Oh Leonie,

We have been here as well - it is such a HARD thing to do. On top of this my neighbors dog bite my cousins sons face (no provocation) - he just went up and did - three years later my children are frightened of him and they still let him roam. The council are so powerless it makes me so cross.
