Election...

Oh...I hear you groan!! its all OVER the place. Pollies kissing babies, chatting to the oldies and even pretending to listen to "the man on the street"....BUT....heres the thing.....

When my daughter sits her little bum at my kitchen table and states "Mum...when I grow up I'm going to be a builder!" I can say "YES, love, you can be anything you want!!!" AND I'm not lying!!!

We do live in a lucky country, our kids have enormous opportunities and I am passionate about the right to vote and freedom of speech. SO....when I was asked if I could work on election day as the "chick behind the desk", marking your name off, handing out your senate and house of rep papers, it was a no brainer...YEP...I"ll do that. Hey....they even pay you!!!

See you there....Its IMPORTANT!!!

I agree! We are so lucky. All this talk of chucking your vote is making me mad. I hope you have a great day and meet some lovely people. X

I have handed out how to vote cards for the Greens a few times and encouraged people to return them and recycle them at the same time as the amount of paper wasted on election day does my head in! I really get annoyed when people don't vote or do a donkey vote- it is such a waste! Good on you Leonie! x

You betcha. The lengths I had to go to to make sure the youngest was on the electoral roll this time was interesting to say the least. But we'll be rocking up together on Saturday to make sure those who can vote do! And properly!

I love voting!!!
I even have a photo of E. at his first election polling booth... even though of course he wasn't voting - but a momentous occasion nonetheless.
... and the senate ballot paper... oh I am in heaven... I always vote below the line numbering every candidate. Oh the fun.
... and then there is election night sitting in front of the tele waiting for all the votes coming in. So exciting. So stressful. Anthony Green is so adorable as he gives a break down of all the seats, love his pie charts and graphics so much and the main man Kerry O' directing it all. Great stuff. Great great stuff.
... but all the bollocks that goes on before hand. All the ads. All the crap. Urgh. Does my head in.

totally agreeing with you. It is important, and I think it's great you're doing it. xo

I have always had that sense of importance in the right to vote, the right to choose, it is a huge privige - it is a shame that the politicians don't seem to see it that way

I wholeheartedly agree, women fought for the right to vote and it is a right that some seem to forget we never had.....please USE your vote wisely so that it counts....use your head not your heart :-)

It is absolutely important. Good on you for saying so too. My 5 year old nephew is convinced the election is between Julia Gillard and Toby Rabbit :)) He said "I think she's going to win... who'd vote for a rabbit?"

:))

Kx

Oh Kylie your nephew's given me the giggles! But seriously as much as the ads give me the shits and are meaningless mud slinging matches, DONT waste your vote! We are lucky to have a say, so take the time to say it!
